Just bought an 1100 for $60 and read enough about it to know that it's a good starting detector. I'm brand new to MDing and am mostly interested in getting into beach hunting. I know of a freshwater beach that I've been to a hundred times and never seen it being hunted so I hope to try it there. After reading the manual, can anyone give me any additional tips for success? Reading all of the stories and finds on this site has given me a major itchy trigger finger and I don't just want to jump in blindly!

Thanks a lot!

Or maybe can anyone just tell me what to expect from this detector in the sand? It would be much appreciated...

I have a BH QD II, I have used it at the beach once and works well in the dry and wet sand. Just dig eveything that gives you a solid repeated signal. You will learn the different tones and what you pull out for each tone. Then you can start to adjust the sensitivity and discrimination settings ect..

Good luck and Happy Hunting

Use a non metallic scoop in wet sand if you can find one. That way you can run your coil over the whole schmear and tell if you have your target in the scoop. (Wet sand won't sift out like dry sand). Monty

ive owned the 1100 for 7 years and i love it ! just turn it on a go !

:hello: I have a bh1100,mine works good on the beach !and in the parks--the best advice is to take the time to learn your machine

Your BH will work well on the freshwater beach, it is any salt water that will give you trouble. Keep the disc under pull tab so you don't miss any gold rings. Good Luck.
