✅ SOLVED Need help with some hallmarks..

Years back, the wife and I used to go to a lot of garage sales, thrift
stores, etc. and somewhere along the way we picked up this set of
Rogers Bros. silverware.

Did some research, and apparently most all Rogers made was silver
plate, and although it is not marked as "sterling", there are some
hallmarks that may confirm if plated or not.

What say Ye..is it treasure, or just more silverware to toss in the drawer..

Likely plated but I am no expert. I see nothing to indicate sterling. Someone else may chime in and I wish you the best.

No, it's silver plate I'm afraid. The mark "1847 Rogers Bros" is a trademark not a hallmark, with 1847 representing the date Rogers perfected a silver-plating process. So, not the date the cutlery was actually made. The trademark passed to Meriden Britannia by acquisition and they used it widely from 1862 through to modern times. The letters "I S " are also not hallmarks but stand for the International Silver Company... a conglomerate of smaller companies who banded together under the IS umbrella in order to compete with the bigger players in the silver plate market.

If you showed the top side of the handle in full I could probably give you a pattern name and an introduction date.
