I just opened your pictures..

Its a plated ring. IMO (on copper or brass but I would say copper)

Nothin "special" or "odd". IMO

I wouldn't call it odd. Beauty in in the eye of the wearer or the maker. First thing I do is look for a 925 mark or a makers mark. If none, I check the edges to see if copper is peeking through. I have a nice collection of costume jewelry I have found with my detector.
