Hello, need ID help here with anyone who knows mid 1800s Indian War/ Army relics. Thats where these were dug. The item on left is I believe a knife quillion, but not totally sure. The other item I have no idea. It has intricate designs, in a military pattern but is so small its like it could hold toothpicks.. Both are made of brass. Any ideas please reply!

The one on the left looks like a coin slot from a gumball machine, or coin bank. Interesting pieces.

An 1860s battlesite somewhere between the Missouri River and the rocky mountains...cant disclose due to property owners request. Metal detecting....Best hobby known to man !

The second item may be part of a Victorian era brass pencil.
Never thought of that...good analysis. I will check out old photos tonight of pencils. Thanks !

#1 looks like a strap guide from a McClellan saddle.

Looking at the saddle, my instinct and common sense say that it's exactly what it is. There were US cavalry there, and it's a perfect match. Good call DC Matt !

Agree. Needle case is a more likely ID than mechanical pencil...
I think thats what it is now. Have matched up a few from the time period. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Will never part with either item thats for sure...the kids will end up with them one day !
