But.....I am *tired* of the hot! :BangHead:

I had to peel and shadow hop today! C'mon!!! Its September already!! :dontknow:

Anyway, managed a long walk.

0910191707a~2.jpg

This thing was almost 13 inches down! And...it *still* rang up at a VDI of 83!!

Solid brass! I figure that with a bit more cleaning, some oil and a key. This thing would still work!

Dunno how old.

Nice lil bling too!
Its either not marked or worn so much they don't show anymore. Still, a rather nice exit find!

Thanks for peeking!
Stay...........cool? :icon_scratch:

I'm not a huge fan of the heat myself. I hate frozen ground but cannot stand the oppressive heat either. Either way you did well and that lock is AWESOME!

Thanks! I can't see any markings on the lock. Sure looks plenty old. I'll continue to clean and see if anything presents itself.

Very nice finds! Congrats!

Awesome you survived the heat also, not easy these days.
Hopfully it cools down and stays nice for a good stretch.

I am liking the padlock and very nice ring!
Looks like theres going to be a tug of war over that beauty!

Nice chunk of coins also, for such a hot day. Bet you felt every digger full of dirt.
That was a long way down for the lock.

Its great you and the detector survived the heat!
It will get cooler...i just don't have a date to go with that, yet.

Very nice prizes WHADI!
You never cease to amaze, well done Sir!

Lock experts?

As I thought, just a little cleaning up and a bit of lock picking....viola!

This lock opened and works just as free as it did many years ago!

Still no markings I could discern. Any lock experts out there?

Sweet lock, I canโ€™t believe that it still works!

Well it doesn't "exactly" work. I think whatever actually locked is long gone. Probably a spring rusted away over the last 200 years. ;)

But, it is brass and after cleaning, it swings open and closed easily. Wonder how long its been since it was last opened. :)

For someone that grew up in the South, I have a Northerner's tolerance for humidity. I am actually writing this on the Ky/Tn border, lol. With temps in the 90's this week, I didn't even consider bringing a detector with me. I like that lock Gary. Oldie for sure.
