New Sunray probe for SE - Red tip: Cover or probe end?

My new probe has a red tip, it's on there pretty tight... is this how they're made now or a cover that can come off?

It may be an update because some hunters treat their probes rough.

It looks like a cover but is very tight and I don't want to force it off. Will write Sunray if I can't find out here.

I wondered the same thing when mine arrived. Just left it on and I'm thinking of ordering a couple extra...

It is simply a new probe tip cover (like a coil cover) that we have now added to new probes to help protect the probe tip. When the red tip begins to wear through it is time for a new one.

Thanks. So it can come off? The sucker sure is tight. I will probably leave it on though as it doesn't seem to make any difference. Good idea!

It has to be tight or it would fall off. It can be removed by holding the probe shaft in one hand and turning the cap counterclockwise while pulling it with the other.
