I haven?t been going to the parks much this year but Tonight I needed to do some digging and so away I went. Second dig was a decent nickel signal. I was pleasantly surprised to see a ring pop out of the hole! I could just make out 14k BUT there was something after the ?k? that I couldn?t quite make out. When I got home I could get a closer look and see it was 14KP which I assumed the P meant plated? :BangHead: None the less I looked it up and it apparently means plumb which signifies it?s exactly 14k!

Last weekend I hit a street reconstruction in a nearby city -

That had to get your heart going! I need to dig more nickels. I'm usually always thinking silver and don't much bother with nickels. Missing gold no doubt I am.

Yup, Plumb means it's at least full 14K.......not to say that even that can't be forged.

Nice nickel! 14kp can also mean 14k gold with Platinum. Of course, there would be some chrome looking metal as well as the yellow gold...

HH ALL!

GoDeep, you already know that to find the Gold jewelry, you will be digging the infamous "pulltab"! I started collecting every pulltab since my last Gold ring and have amassed quite a pile. I look at it this way, only 200 trillion more pull tabs (give or take) left to dig in my favorite park...

That’s the truth. I’m usually kind of surprised when a nickel signal actually turns out to be a nickel.

Under optimal conditions I can hear the difference on the Nox between a nickel and a pull tab but optimal conditions don’t exist very often in a trashy park.

Awesome! If you aren't digging pull tabs and nickels you aren't digging gold rings either!

My wedding band is 14K and has the "P", which means Plumb, as others have said. It's precisely 58.30% gold.
