Notched Ovate Bannerstone

A cool style of bannerstone. They are shaped, the notch can be drilled out and then cut (the middle one), or in the case of the top and bottom examples just cut out.

The bottom piece is picture in Lutz' book. Some restoration.

Never seen the notch before. Think it was quicker? Was it a local thing ( area)?
