Old Railroad Tag?

Is this tag part of the old railroad? Found it next to an old depot. I can make some of it out. ”Johnson Measuring Hopper C.S Johnson CO Champaign Illinois. Patented 1822?” Can’t make that line out. The bottom reads Data Plate.
Also found this 1917 wheat Penny in good shape. Found this cool Pontiac token. These were my best finds of the day. Thanks for looking.

I love the Pontiac token!! I would like to see the RR tag in better light! Not that I will know what it is....just nosy/curious!

That’s holding a light on it. It’s pretty dull and worn. The backside looks like copper to me. I’m sad it’s broke.

Do you have a microscope I love mine that would be awesome if it is a RR tag looks like you had a great hunt
No microscope. If this is a tag puts me to 3. I have one from the engine worth 600$ according to a railroad expert. The other is a luggage. Not sure what this tag is. I’m guessing it was stamped onto a train cart hopper and this tag was the inspection tag. Old railroad items are awesome to collect that’s for sure.
