Mr Gollum,

I keep seeing this San Felipe Creek/Carizzo Wash story about a buried cross. Have you seen the Lost Treasure Magazine April 2003 article where the author investigates the story and says "...we did find something very interesting about 100 yards north of San Filipe Creek. We found a hole in the ground that was more than seven feet deep and three to four feet wide." Have you heard anything about this? I guess if somene found something we may never know..

Huff,

I know the story very well. It supposedly happened in 1812.

There are a couple of recoveries from that place that I know of. A small gold box with a gold and ruby rosary, and one gold bar found in a wash after a rain. It is possible, but unlikely that the cross was found.

About the Lost treasure story let me say this. I just read a story in Gold Prospecting magazine about the Lost Ship of the Desert, and was NOTHING but a bunch of old rehashed stories. So be careful what you read...

The BLM Map to what? San Sebastian Marsh?

Just go to Southeast of Ocotillo Wells, to where San Felipe Creek runs into Carrizo Wash. It is now a protected wilderness area.

That's a protected wilderness area?
I've driven my truck over that area many a time plus people ride motorcycles all over it too. I never checked to see exactly where it was. I thought it was closer to the old stage trail farther south. I was down there with some offroaders about 6 weeks ago and drove south from the offroad park all the way to the 8. I have camped at the off road park probably 6 times in the last 12 months. Now that I know where to look... I'll have to take a look.

I thought I would also mention that the restaurant right there called "my desert rose" burned down. I saw that the weekend of the 12Th this month when I went for breakfast. What a disappointment when I had no food for breakfast....it was a pretty good place for breakfast too.... the other place the blue inn or whatever its called kinda sucks... get there early or its packed and the cooks are slow... and you will wait forever even if you get food to go.

These modern treasure hunters seem loathe to get too far from room service! ;D ;D ;D

"Hello Room Service? I'll take a BLT, some French Fries, and a map to that lost mine I'm looking for. Could you also ask the concierge to go out and if he finds it, to give me a call at the Jacuzzi" ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes, your Landy is doing fine.

Good afternoon GULLUM: that picture is a self portrait taken on a two week trip into the Sierra Encantado of Baja looking for prehistoric living areas. I found them at about 4000 ft in a deep canyon with water,.and lived there alone for a week, complete with ghosts etc. around the camp fire at night.. I left from the San Felipe Road heading West.

Cold drinks were a bit scarce, in fact just finding water in that country was almost impossible.. Many a cactus bit the dust.

But it was fun ! You have to go someday my friend..

Come on Jose,

I call myself G-O-L-L-U-M not G-U-L-L-I-B-L-E! ;D

I know that picture of you was taken by a Bell Boy out back of the La Quinta Inn in Saltillo (or was it Zacatecas)! :icon_jokercolor:

I would love to come down there. If I get the chance, I'll let you know I'm coming. I'll try and give you more than a two day notice.

Hey CF,

I don't think this is a mine. I see no evidence of mineralization. I may be wrong, but it was likely a natural cave that was opened up to use for storage.

Problem is, this is at the Southern End of the San Andreas Fault. The entire mountain is fractured granite. The thing is constantly caving in. The spot where the shaft turns right and opens up is just out of reach, as the shaft right before there is collapsed to about 10 inches in diameter (too small for my RC Rock Crawler). I will leave it as is until I can get something to look around that turn and see something worth risking my life to go see.

Try a google search on this name

JUDGE JOESPH CRATER

The missing New York state supreme Judge
whom disappeared back in 1930

If you find the right article
there is a story about that Judge being sighted
in your area in the early 30's

The man was mistaken to be Judge Crater
the missing Judge

However, it was not him

The Man arrived in Julian ( where the Pie festivals are so awesome)

He was driving a Packard

Had a Map and or letter to
a Hoard of Hidden treasure
out in the Anza

He employed a local prospector
to help him locate what was in the documents he carried

When folks got Too nosey
about him
He told the Prospector that
he was the Missing Judge Crater

He was not

after awhile
the prospector found the Monuments
the Man had on his docs.

The man paid the prospector off

The Prospector returned to Julian
for supplys

and the Man with the Packard was never seen again

Though his Packard was parked where he had left it
Back in Julian.

Call me Telepathic if you must

But,,,,,,
What you have come across
is what was on that strangers Letters and map

There at your site,

I would not be the least suprized
that his bones are beneath
the stones

Inside or at the death trap.

The legend of a Fortune in Jesuit mined
gold and silver
is attached to that area.

It is supposed to be hidden
in a cave that fits your discription

There will be an entrance into this

at the top of the ridge, covered up with stones

also, an alternate entrance
around the other side
opposite the one you have found.

South, towards the Border
is a cave with Winchester Rifles
cached
They were sold to the Mexicans for their revolution

The rifles may still be there

They are in a small peak that stands alone
and can be seen south of Hiway 80

I forget the name of the town this is near

NOTE: Go to the top of the chiminy
look close for an entrance
beneath the boulder

there will be smaller rocks stacked below the dirt
around the base of that boulder

try it.

add this note: The story of Judge Crater imposter can be found
in a Book about unsolved mysteries

the story of the Jesuit treasure can be found
in a book about lost California Treasures
also, this cave was found before by a sheepherder
he saw the treasure
removed a small portion
went into town
bought burrows and
picks/shovels and supplys.

Was never seen again

So, look about for bones in the drywash
or expect to find the bones
inside that cave

google search
ANZA BORREGO+JESUIT TREASURE
See what comes up

remix: try this: www.klaxo.net/hofc/other/rvj-lost-ship.htm-80k
read about the lost Spanish ship supposedly beneath the Salton Sea
and the other stories about treasure out there by kane springs
and that Canyon with the funny name

Rog'

WTH, Treasure Minder! Is this TNet Haiku!?

LOL

Interesting read, however!
