found it along the potomac has to be the oldest coin i've found i did second oldest was a 1747 skilling - im going back tomarrow!

thank ya,gotta be more stuff, lots of odds and ends but this washed up im guessing probably not though found lots of junk and lots of old broken pottery will keep posted on anything worthy

Love your early copper. As you may know, its a 9 deniers that was issued for general use in the West Indies, particularly for Martinique, Guadeloupe and the Dominican Republic (known as Saint Dominique back then). They were minted in France, and the "B" mint mark stands for the French town of Rouen. The link below will give you a bunch of additional info on your coin. Great find!

Man that's an awesome coin and it looks to be in great shape for being almost 300 yrs old. According to Bill D's linked article it looks like a rare one to boot. Good luck on your future searches in that area.

Nice finds. Were they found in sandy soil because they're in great condition. Pewter buttons rarely hold in the soil I dig in. Congrats!

muddy swamp shi*t surprised i didnt sink down some corrosion on the coin but like barely button was closer to land in usual reddish mud/clay its been all wet and rainy here what a mess - thank ya bill 1812? nicee
