Part One of two piece buckle

My partner just brought me this, found near coast in Delaware. No patterns or markings showing at this point, only beautiful green brass. Any thoughts on origin?

Tell your buddy he/she needs to find the other half, as it appears to be a CW-era two-piece buckle. Cool find, more so if the other half can be recovered.

That's a great find!! Look at my avatar. It's definitely part of a tounge and reef buckle. There were many different ones. Clean it a little to get some details and maybe you can get a positive ID. Congrats

And go back and find the other half. I'm proof it can happen

I had a hard time finding a tongue and wreath with the belt loop being rounded like this one. They were all squared off like VP's example. Certainly looks like a sturdy one, so I'd think more examples are out there?

Certainly possible Matt. I'd contemplated that but felt that this looked larger and sturdier. The bathing suit buckles seem to have the belt loop soldered (welded?) on the back, where this appears to have been cast as one piece. Maybe just a different variation. But, what size is this one?
