I have found a couple pewter spoons at an old property Iā€™ve been detecting at. Is there any way to know what era these type spoons are from? They look pretty darn old.

Often the base metal of silver plated flatware is a copper alloy known as "nickel silver" which is basically brass (copper + zinc) with as much as 18% nickel added. It comes out of the ground looking much like old brass does.
