Please help identify an item..

Posted for Amanda:
The photos attached are of an item found on the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. It is about 7 1/2" long and 2" wide and thick. Its real heavy and feels and looks like some form of marble or jade. If you could possibly help in identifying this, please reply and let me know what I have here. I would love to find out what it is, how old it is, where it came from and the story behind it. Please help if you can.

Very beautiful indeed, odd too. I would think it had a specific purpose just by the shape of it.

It is deffinitely Jade not marble. I think member "Dave N Japan" would be the right guy to find out what it is just seeing that he is in the right part of the world where this item comes from. I believe this item was decoration in someone's home or boat and it got washed around in the flood and found its way to the beach.
