I have just bought this big collection of ancient jewels from bronze and iron age. I have been told, that most of it is from the Finno-Ugric area, and the baltic sea (Since theres a lot of amber) But do any of you have more specifik knowledge about the collection....? I look very much foreward to here from you! This is only SOME of the collection! 0C9A2068.JPG 0C9A2074.JPG 0C9A2075.JPG 0C9A2083.JPG 0C9A2085.JPG 0C9A2088.JPG 0C9A2091.JPG 0C9A2096.JPG 0C9A2100.JPG 0C9A2101.JPG 0C9A2104.JPG 0C9A2106.JPG 0C9A2109.JPG 0C9A2112.JPG 0C9A2113.JPG 0C9A2114.JPG 0C9A2115.JPG 0C9A2117.JPG 0C9A2118.JPG 0C9A2121.JPG 0C9A2122.JPG 0C9A2123.JPG 0C9A2124.JPG 0C9A2125.JPG 0C9A2126.JPG 0C9A2127.JPG 0C9A2128.JPG 0C9A2129.JPG 0C9A2135.JPG 0C9A2140.JPG 0C9A2141.JPG 0C9A2143.JPG 0C9A2145.JPG 0C9A2147.JPG 0C9A2155.JPG 0C9A2158.JPG 0C9A2161.JPG 0C9A2170.JPG 0C9A2188.JPG 0C9A2197.JPG

Why did you buy these items, when you don't know exactly what they are, or from which era.???

Some of the things are easier to guess at than others. I would say the things beside the long needle looking thing are bells. The piece under the necklaces, with the red beads, could be something to hold a cape or tunic together at the neck. So it didn't fall off. The last thing looks like a key. Really not sure just guessing because of the way they look.

The items are from various cultures, the key is Roman, the pyramid bell on a chain looks Scandinavian, Bronze age bracelet, and other Roman items. The beaded necklaces could be from a few different time frames.

Buy I am still curious why somebody would by such a collection, with out knowing the origins, how would you know what price to pay:icon_scratch:

I only Bought this huge collection, because a private danish museum asked me if i where interested. I have ben writing several books about the viking age, and most of these things, are clearly from the period, and before. The result, if i didn't buy it was, that the collection would be spread all over the world... So yes, i have possible payed WAY to much, but rather that, than seen the history destroyed in the pursuit of money. Right now, the collection is secured at the Moesgaard museum in Århus, Denmark, and i´m on the way to the Danish national museum, to have a meeting with them... everything has to go by protocol here... its quite an adventure i have set out on... 0C9A2065.JPG 0C9A2071.JPG 0C9A2084.JPG 0C9A2090.JPG 0C9A2091.JPG 0C9A2092.JPG 0C9A2097.JPG 0C9A2098.JPG 0C9A2099.JPG 0C9A2119.JPG 0C9A2143.JPG 0C9A2144.JPG 0C9A2162.JPG 0C9A2164.JPG 0C9A2165.JPG 0C9A2166.JPG 0C9A2167.JPG 0C9A2172.JPG 0C9A2173.JPG 0C9A2175.JPG 0C9A2178.JPG 0C9A2181.JPG 0C9A2195.JPG 0C9A2196.JPG 0C9A2198.JPG 0C9A2199.JPG 0C9A2203.JPG 0C9A2209.JPG

I really love that coil of payment silver and those cloak broaches too. But my favorite has to be the bucket of amber!

fantastic...one of the most wonderful collections of Viking treasure I have seen...

ok sir...I went an looked through a pile of reference materials I have...a catalog caught my eye...
the SADIGH GALLERY, they sell antiques' similar to the photos you posted...
while I believe they may be a bit high in their desire to make money, they do identify the objects quite well...

www.sadighgallery.com

perhaps you might check the postings they have for sale...
