Generally speaking...
Do you prefer a metal detector with a straight shaft or a "S"
I prefer a straight shaft, i never could get comfortable swinging the AT PRO because of the shaft it had now the Xterra 705 was much more comfortable for me, but again for me i like the straight shafts better

As far as comfort and swing go, whats the difference between the two?

The Xterra is the first photo and the way the control pod is attached makes the Xterra feel more like a straight shaft, The ATP was just uncomfortable for me to swing and is a S shaft , the third photo is the Legend which has a true straight shaft

I'm interested in something lighter and better balanced than the factory nox 800 shaft. Collapsing for travel would be great too

The last S shaft I had was uncomfortable on the wrist. Went to a minelab straight shaft and was way better. Once dialed in balance was spot on with the different coils, and my wrist was straight with no pain. With my Sovereign detaching the box made a machine I could swing all day. Also nice for ceilings while doing building searches

S-Shaft- never liked straight shaft- mostly for balance reasons, but also because straight shafts look wrong to me. Just aesthetics with looks but balance seems real. Also seems to me straight shaft puts the coil too close to my feet. Deus 2 currently my only detector. Some are going to after market straight shaft for reasons unknown. I kind of like the telescoping straight shaft for compactness of storage but not reason enough for me to prefer it.

Well, I mocked up a curved shaft for my Nox.
Not a perfect test, but as close as I could get to the real conversion.....

I believe I prefer the straight shaft!
A curves shaft seems out of blance or something.
I felt like a curved shaft puts the coil out too far from my feet.

I guess its a personal decesion.
But after comparing the two, I no longer desire a need for a curved shaft.

Im sticking with the NOX straight shaft, and I appriciate those who replied.
