🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Possible gun part?

I found this brass object on the site of a mid 1800s Gunsmith shop. I have found similar objects before that have ended up belonging to a firearm. Please don't say it's a wheel weight for a car, I've had other people comment saying that is what it looks like lol. It's solid brass and had multiple markings.

I've never seen a brass gun part marked "Pat[ent] Pend[ing]."

About it being found at a mid-1800s gunshop site:
The fact that the PAT PEND marking is written in plain block(non-serifed) lettering, and the 502207 numbers are also non-serifed, indicates it is "most likely but not definitely" from sometime in the 20th Century. The 6-digit number MIGHT be the number of the patent which was pending at the time the object was made.

I just don't think that is any kind of gun part. Curious item though.

The only thing I can think of is a sliding counter weight for a scale.
The rusted blob might be the adjuster screw that held it in place.

It,s easy to get fixated on it being some kind of particular item. Thanks for the reminder it could be something else.Definitely curious.
