Dug this item appears to be brass under the crud I'm thinking it was a top for a salt container hole in top I'm thinking was for a chain and the opening in bottom I'm thinking was where the salt spoon would stick. Out when cover is on. And appears to be an acorn Your thoughts?
I have no knowledge of those so I,m not going to guess,but I do like it,a really nice design there.
