I went out today to an 1800s site and found what I think is a watch fob.
At first, I thought it was a dog tag but after cleaning, it appears to be a watch fob.
It appears to have a image of a belt around the outer edge.
The loops at each end have me puzzled and not sure if these loops were on Fobs.
Maybe is is a dog tag?
Any ideas as to age?
Thank you

Looks like a suspender clip more than a watch fob. Thinner metal and the hinge fins are still on the sides.
Neat find
Suspenders clip huh? I can see that. How were the hinge fins used?

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a fob with those side eyelets. It appears thereโ€™s a belt and buckle around the edge. Maybe some type of suspender clip or leather decoration. Cool find.

Nice suspender buckle! This is a lever buckle missing the lever that swiveled between the two ears. Lever-buckles started being made in the 1860's. Very nice find!

I agree with ironhorse. Suspender clip, missing the teeth guts. The tabs on each end would have been at a 90 degree angle to the front and supported the hinged teeth
Would the backside looked like this? With the teeth?
