First, welcome to the forums. There is a wealth of knowledge here and then there is me! Your piece looks to have been made on a potters wheel. I don't think native Americans had them. Can you post a picture of the bottom?
 

Welcome. Nice find but not ancient NA. Maybe something 18th century but probably more recent.
 

They had a lotta turpentine pots hangin in them woods made out of that same clay..maybe associated.
