We actually have a few of those up here in British Columbia.. on the west coast for sure....

But we do have pretty mild winters.. that may be the reason

I know it's interesting that they can move their heads up, down left and right. Seems I only see them at the end of the summer months. Me and the grandson were out exploring along the creek when we encountered this spectacular insect. We also saw crawdads and just chilled to the sounds of nature on a little exploration.
