I am starting this thread to post my results from CRH on a quarterly basis. I am reposting the results from a previous post called 1Q CRH results and will add the new results quarterly. I figured the title on the original post would get outdated pretty quickly. Sorry to repeat, but I don't know how to change the title of a post once it has been submitted.

So this is the repeat of the post from Q1 2022

Q1 2022 results

Found a total of 9.22oz of silver. This includes 3 FDR dimes and a 1964 quarter found in coinstar machines

Nickels: Searched $1,024 (20,480 coins). 14 war nickels, 3 buffaloes (1 was dateless - not in pic, 1 1935, and the other one in the pic is nearly dateless but I think it is a 1915. Also found a 1939S. Between the WW2 and buffaloes, I averaged one coin for every $51.20 searched

Dimes: Searched $5,575 (55,750 coins) and found 40 silvers - 32 FDR (incl. the 3 from coinstar), 7 mercs, and 1 Canadian 80% silver (1951). Highlights: on 3/7 found 14 silvers (11FDR and 3 mercs) in a single CWR, and on 3/13 a single CWR had 3 FDRs. Averaged one silver for every $139 searched (0.0717%). I prefer CWR in in dimes and most places that know I search only save me CWR.

Quarters: Searched $300 and found nothing in the rolls (only the 1 from the coinstar)

Halves: Searched $283 (566 coins) and found 29 40%, 1 1964 JFK and 2 Walkers. Averaged 1 silver for every $8.84 searched (5.65%). Breaking this down further:
CWR: searched $200: found 15 40% and the 1964 90% (1 silver per $12.50 - 4%)
MWR: searched $20 and found nothing (I never find anything in these)
Loose from tellers: searched $63 and found 14 40% and the 2 Walkers (1 per $3.94 - 12.7%)
Highlights: in February at a Bank of America the teller had $1 in halves and they were the 2 Walkers. On 3/31, out of $6 that the teller had, $5.50 were 40% ($5 were 1969D and 1 1967).

Thanks for looking and HH. It is still out there - nothing more than being in the right place at the right time.

Full year 2022 CRH Results

Found a total of 31.77oz of silver in 2022. This compares with 71.11oz in 2021 and 75.90oz in 2020. The major difference was that I did not find any solid (or near solid) rolls of silver. If you take out the solid rolls of 90% and 40% halves, the 1.5 solid rolls of dimes, the near-solid roll of war nickels, and the 32 silver quarters that a bank teller had saved for me, the 2021 result would have been 26.85oz of silver. So given that, it wasn't a bad year - I just didn't have the luck I had in 2021.

Nickels: Searched $5,630 (112,600 coins). 57 war nickels, 21 buffaloes or earlier (6 were dateless). One CWR had 5 war nickels in it. Also found 2x 1939S. Between the WW2 and buffaloes, averaged one coin for every $72.18 searched.

Dimes: Searched $25,485 (254,850 coins) and found 168 silvers - 145 FDR (incl. 14 from Coinstar), 19 mercs (2 from Coinstar), 1 beaten up Barber on New Year's eve (189x?), and 5 Canadian 80% silver (1 from Coinstar). Averaged one silver for every $151.70 searched. Highlights: On 7/5 one of the CWR had a 2002S silver proof. On 3/7 a CWR had 11FDR and 3 mercs in it. The pic of the 5 FDR dimes are 4 silver BU and the 2002S proof.

Quarters: Searched $1,020 and found no silver in the rolls (only 1 from Coinstar on 2/12). On 7/21, found a 2020 Weir Farm W-mint in a MWR, and on 10/28 found a 2019 River of no Return in change.

Halves: Searched $1,108 (2,216 coins) and found 70 40%, 10 1964 JFK, 3 Franklin, 2 Walkers, a 1970D and a 1982 George Washington 90% silver commemorative. Averaged 1 silver for every $12.74 searched. Breaking this down further:
CWR: searched $460: found 17 40% and 1 1964 90% (1 silver per $25.56)
MWR: searched $140 and found nothing (I never find anything in these)
Loose from tellers: searched $508 and found 53 40%, 9 1964 JFK, 3 Franklins, 2 Walkers, the 1970D and the 1982 GW commemorative (1 silver per $7.47 searched).
Found 1 1968D 40% half in a Coinstar
Highlights: on 7/2, found 5 1964 and 17 40% from the teller tray at 2 separate banks. On 9/3 found the 1970D and the 1982 GW commemorative from the teller tray at one bank.

Coinstar: in addition to the silver mentioned above, Coinstar coughed up $23.23 in US clad, $2.57 Canadian, 1.97 Euros, 30 Mexican Pesos, and 1.20 from the UK in addition to various other foreign coins. The highlight was finding the 2-cent piece from 1865 on 8/11 (there was a separate post in the Constar section on that one) and a 1 Farthing from 1896 early in the year.

Thanks for looking, HH, and good luck to all in 2023

I forgot to post this from the end of the first quarter of 2023, so here it goes

Found 4.725oz of silver for the first quarter of 2023. Includes 1 FDR dime from Coinstar on 3/12.

Nickels: Searched $1,192 (23,840 coins). 18 war nickels, 7 buffaloes (2 were dateless, 1926, 1936, 1935, 1929, 1936S). Also found the 1939D on 1/12 and a 1939S 2x 1939S. Between the silver and buffaloes, averaged one coin for every $47.68 searched.

Dimes: Searched $5,290 (52,900 coins) and found 32 silvers - 27 FDR (incl. the 1 from Coinstar), 5 mercs. Averaged one silver for every $165 searched. Highlights: On 3/16 one CWR had 3 mercs in it.

Quarters: Searched $250 and found nothing.

Halves: Searched only $116 (232 coins) and found 7 40% and 1 1964 JFK. Averaged 1 silver for every $14.50 searched. Breaking this down further:
CWR: searched $50: found nothing
MWR: searched $0
Loose from tellers: searched $66 and this is where I found all the silver (1 silver per $8.25 loose from tellers searched).
Highlights: Feels like there are a lot more half searchers in my neck of the woods. I either find no volume at all or I am offered $500 that someone brought in (and I don't take those).

Coinstar: in addition to the silver dime mentioned above, Coinstar coughed up
  • $1.52 in US Clad
  • C$0.50
  • 2.01 euros
  • and various other foreign coins

Silver for April and May was few and far between. I hit a large dime find yesterday, which I will post seaprately.

Thanks for looking and HH

Thanks. I never search boxes of dimes though. I focus on getting CWR (I even ask for them at the bank) as I think that I stand a better chance of getting silver - but that is just my thing.
