There gonna tell you one thing, no one can really tell without holding it in person on something like that it's not an arrowhead. Look for more cool rocks and clean em up. If you start to see some patterns, you might be on to rock art.

They are are plow marks plain and simple. Please stop misleading and misinforming the members here.

I'd guess plow marks, but what else is in the field with it? Any points? Also, it could have been carried there and dropped and then plow hit.

Like Grim stated, they are plow scars. You are aware that you're new to all this. By your own admission. So keep that fact in mind, and learn before you teach. The poster is inexperienced himself, so, given your own lack of knowledge, you're just misleading him. That's not a good thing to do to other inexperienced people who show up here looking for help.

I'm with the plow marks crew, but he made mention it fits nicely in the hand. I've got three generations worth of sharpening stones that are all grooved up similar. Possibility? Hate to see it get thrown out only to find tools or blades later. It'd be worthwhile to search or at least eyeball the area to see what pops up. You might end up answering your own question.

Guys, all rocks will "fit in your your hand". That is not criteria for a simple stone being an artifact. This particular stone has modern scars from farm machinery. It's a rock.

They are plowmarks on a rock. That is the wonder of the human hand, it can hold almost anything, if you use the criteria of how "it fits my hand" your going to collect a ton of rocks and very few true artifacts.

Good luck next time.

I'm not an authority, but I know a plow marked rock when I see one, and I've seen plenty of them on my Brother in Laws farm, and many other farms that I have walked while metal detecting, in the last 30 years.
