Just picked this up at a thrift store for two dollars. I did not find it metal detecting or on the sidewalk, but I just wanted to post this neat little find. A love token was made out of a Canadian five cent piece (a fishy) and then made into a hat pin. I guess what makes this piece so special to me is the etching of a house and tree in a folk art style. Just wanted to share!

That's gorgeous.....I get a Caribbean vibe with the palm tree by the house.

Neat thift find. However I believe what you have is a stickpin or tie pin instead of a hat-pin which mostly have a much longer pin. I remember my grandpa having a stickpin in his tie during a funeral once. They're very eye catching. These were popular items at one time for a Sharp Dressed Man as mentioned in a popular ZZ TOP tune

Gold watch, diamond ring
I ain't missin' not a single thing
Cufflinks, stick pin
When I step out I'm gonna do you in.

I pickup nice looking stick pins when they end up in thrift stores cheap, as many are gold as these 7 I have and the gold marks are very small or maybe not marked at all.
