The T-rex is a solid choice. If you do have more $$ to spend, sunspot will do you well.

But if this is a one-time vacation, a handheld scoop will do you just fine.

I want to get something solid.. I use Lesche Shovels for regular detecting and would like to get something for the beach of similar quality and utility.

T-Rex looks nice, I'm just left wondering if it's actually worth those price tags.

Trust me, I swear by my t-rex. I got it used for less than $100 bucks (can't name the source, unfortunately) and it's still going strong. Good luck!

T-Rex on the heavy side and has a hard time with damp sand clogging square holes. YMMV
