Relic Fest 2010 is what we called it. The last weekend we would be able to get out and dig in the fields. Saturday was Brad and I, Sunday was Brad, his brother, and I, and Monday was just me.
Didn't take as many pics as I wanted, but got one of a good field we were in.
Saturday Brad and I got permission to hunt a field where two houses used to be. It was pretty cold, but I managed a 1847 LC right away and a 1839o half dime a hour later. Brad got a 3-D coin ring (1918 merc) with the band broken off. He also found a decent size piece of indian pottery on this ridge where the houses used to be.
Sunday we all got out with Brad brother Brian finding the best relic that day. A prehistoric copper fish hook, sorry no pic of it, but it was worth it.
Monday I got out by myself and hit up a couple new spots looking for thawed ground. I ended up back at old faithful and spent the rest of the day there. I managed a few more, 1880 holed IH and a 1837 hard times token. But also found farther down the ridge, a small piece of indian pottery and a piece of worked copper or better known as a waste flake. The copper culture flourished in this area thousands of years ago and we might have a spot that was used during that time period.
Spring time we will be back, the field is huge!
