Hey all my good friends,
My buddy and I went out yesterday to enjoy an absolutely beautiful day of metal detecting. It was a great day to say the least. As soon as we got there we hit a campsite/part of Confederate line. We recovered several nice minies and a nice Williams Cleaner. I took him to another area where we both pulled out some very nice buttons. His looked like a two piece with possibly a design on it....Mine was a flat button with the shank still intact, probably came off of a Confederate jacket. I found a few musketballs there as well
But the best find of the day was definitely the Bormann fuse that my bud found in absolutely GREAT condition! It had been used but it was still attached to the threads and all. It was a great find! This was probably a piece of artillery that was taken from the Yankees and shot back at them by the Confederates as attested in the official accounts of the battle
On the way back to our vehicle I found something that looks like it may be an old butt plate. Not sure though (in the picture, it is in the upper righthand corner)..and I also found a nice part of a boss bit. It was exactly in the area where Union Cavalry was stationed to guard the flank. It could have come from one of those Pennsylvania boys' horses.
It was a great day of hunting and we enjoyed it A WHOLE LOT. I have videos of the hunt as well if I can find a quick and efficient way to upload them than I will add them for all your viewing pleasure
I added two videos below of our first find and a first for this spot...But if anyone knows a quicker way than Google Video...Please let me know
And all my friends on here: ModernMiner, CivilMan1, KirkPA, ZoyBoy, KFB, Will aka BuckleBoy, Montana Jim and all my other good friends, let me know what you boyz think
HH Oh yeah, Disclaimer: First time trying to use a DVR to record while doing recovery work. 8)

P.S. Not pictured were the 8 or 9 pieces of Buck and Ball that I found...they were too far down in the pouch to try to get to.

This is what the Bormann fuse would have looked like STILL in the Cannonball!!!
