Found a pendant that says "Remeber the Maine" with the obvious ship, and on the other side 4 dudes unknown to me. Looks like a flying eagle in the middle of the portraits of the men. Found some other random stuff too, was a cold windy but FUN day! ;D

Nice medal. It makes me think of my Marine Corps days stationed in Cuba and the USS Maine went down during the Spanish American War. One thing I remember is the slogan that was used to rally people, Remember the Maine, To the hell with Spain.

Happy Hunting.

Here is what your medal looked like intact:
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/4449163

It suggests the men include "Admiral Dewey, Captain Sigsbee..." (Dewey was the hero of Manila Bay, Sigsbee was the captain of the Maine.)

This Remember the Maine mirror has images of Dewey, Sampson, & Hobson.

This should be a start - one of the men could be Teddy Roosevelt, Admiral Dewey is certainly one of them, they could be Dewey and the other 3 captains of the main ships involved in Manila Bay?

Anyway, great save!
