I just ordered a new Minelab battery pod. Happy with it.

You can use a lipo battery pack if you wantto recharge once a year.....

If it's the web site that I use, get the 1500ma because it has a longer charge/ discharge life cycle. 100ma will not make that much difference.

Ive been using the 1600 in 3 pods now for some time. You do have to shave the plastic off them a bit to get them in the pod.... but worth every penny. The charger is a must have because it charges them in about an hour and shuts off so they dont stay hot.... and it has a light. If you use the ML charger it takes forever since its almost twice the capacity. Lupos require a 3rd wire if I remember right to check every cell.... you would have to take the cap off way to often for me.

I have hunted from dawn to dusk with my 1500ma NiMH and still had a power left. About 12 hours of constant hunting is all my body can handle... Dew is right, charges in about an hour..

I Use lipo 2450Mah... over 40-50hours of hunt. I do sometime forget if I have a battery charger for excalibur... LoL

Link to the lipo?

Frog..... show me that battery in a pod. Whats the price for those and a charger? We all know ML is around $165 for a 1000 mah battery with pod. The Maxxpack is around $50 with charger for a 1600 mah. Ive been pretty pleased with the ones i have.... especially that charger. Im with you TH....... 12 hours and im done.......and think i should have left at 8 lol.

You are right. Go with the Nimah Maxxpack and use the Excal charger.

You would be trying to charge almost twice the mah if you move up to the 1600s. That means extra charging time with the standard ML charger. Be done with it....... get the smart charger with a light and charge the battery within an hour when needed. BUT.... i wouldnt use the smart charger on a ML blue battery (700 mah) or you need to remove it when charged..... other wise it will continue to try and charge a weak ML battery making them to hot in the tube IMO. They kind of refer to it when they say charges batteries from 1000 mah.

Dew

Got a 1500 at 30 amp draw and the charger from the site I posted
.

I got the 7-10 cell charger. Is that the one thats "priceless?'
