I found this at an old 1700's homesite near Yorktown Virginia this past weekend. I'm hoping it's some sort of Badge from a British Regiment. I did some research and found a picture of unit with a goat on it's badge, but it was different than this one. Of course, I'm really just guessing at what it is and may be way off. Any Rev. War experts out there? Thanks...

It looks a bit like an early version of the helmet badge of a famous British cavalry regiment, the 7th dragoon Guards.

I've attached a photo of a later version. Hope this helps.

Well... it looks like it is likely a family Heraldic Crest (Coat of Arms). I think that's pretty neat as I may be able to figure out who lived at the site. The farm owner said his family has owned the property for 15+ generations so I may have a really interesting surprise in store for him. I need to research it a little more first. Here is a similar one I found on-line. I think it is actually a unicorn and not a goat now that I have researched it some.
