I just got bit by the bug again! I had been roll hunting until late 2008 but now I got bit again, I came to the forum to learn about New England prospecting and saw the CRH column and that did it!
I took a walk around Cambridge at lunch time, it is city not a suburb or town and got 3 bank rolled rolls at one bank (skunked) and 5 single halves at another and got a really nice 40% 1969!

Glad to have you back, but if you haven't hunted since 2008, you're probably in for a rude awakening. Average finds per box will likely be way, way down from what you were used to.

Good luck and HH!

yea let us know what you think if it's harder than it used to be. you might want to hunt for a bit though to get a good average

I guess it is the same as metal detecting, the finds are few and far between as the ground is worked out. I had never done dimes or quarters in the past only halves so I can see how I do there. Also roll hunting in the past I only did it for about 2 years and have no idea what my averages were, if I had to guess I would say I went through about 300 or so rolls of halves to get what I have as a total, it was fairly good, the 2 rolls of Walkers was an aberation or a bonanza (pardon the pun) the 4 90% was more average but I got a lot of 40%
ON the 40% they were buying them for 55 CENTS apiece back then but I kept them and glad I did!

I would guess that most finds today are coming from older people cleaning out drawers and rolling them up.
