These days I rarely get coins from the bank since they're still displaying "coin shortage" signs. But once a week or so I bring in $100/$200 in quarters from the casino to keep in good graces with the tellers (they told me they're usually short on pennies and quarters). The only thing I ask for are dollar coins, large or small. Sometimes I get a few strays, sometimes like last week I get a bunch ($75 worth in smalls).

During a lunch hour this week I went to another branch to return them (no keepers) and gave them to a guy teller I've never seen before. Wrapped in paper rolls that had "$25 Dollars" printed on them, he counted the rolls this way: "Ten...twenty...thirty". I said "Those are dollar coins". He opened one end, saw the gold coin and went "Hm", counted again, silently this time, and said "You want a big bill?" I said "Well, three 20's, a ten and a five is good". He takes out five 20s and goes for more bills before I tell him it's only $75 worth. He then gets it. I dunno how he was counting that second time.
