These are finds from the “Loaded Site” that continues to produce turn of the century coins and relics. Expanded near the road and got into some mid century stuff with the glass, aluminum horse shoe and Merc.

The fancy sash buckle was my favorite from this round. Need to give this site a break for a bit and let winter knock down some of the high grass to open up some more areas.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Some nice finds there. The ‘token’ is from a French producer of olive oil (J. Mottet & Co) established in Grasse, which is a municipality in the French Alpes-Maritimes region. Their promotional literature says their product reached the European market in 1782 and the American market “some sixty years later”. I would think it’s not a token as such, but an advertising/promotional piece, or perhaps some kind of quality seal affixed to one of their bottles.

Here are some of bottles they used in the late 1800s/early 1900s:

Any marks on the back of the spoon(?) with the cat-pattern handle? It’s a lot quicker to track a pattern and a possible date if there’s something that narrows down the search.

Thx for the info. I think the Mottet piece is a lead seal of some sort. Pic of spoon makers mark attached.

A lead seal would make sense for attachment to a bottle or its stopper.

The spoon pattern doesn't seem to be documented as one of Benedict's standard offerings. However, they made a number of 'specials' such as souvenir spoons and sets for children. I would guess it's from one of the latter. Datewise, it will probably be between 1902-1906. The "M.S. Benedict Mfg. Co" Incorporated in 1902 as the "Benedict Mfg. Co" and then reorganized in 1906 as the "T.N. Benedict Mfg. Co".
