For freshwater you can also look at the Tiger Shark. I have a Sand Shark, and it doesn't seem 'cheap', but who knows. I know it doesn't look like the latest new fangled MD, but it gets the job done well.

Thanks Kirks I have thought about the Tiger Shark as well having never had a PI machine I'm looking to try one. Its just that phrase printed spiral makes me think about all the printed circuit boards I've had to replace.

I've got a 7yr old tigar shark and it performs awesome , everything from wet salt beaches, dry sand and hitting tot lots. Tigar shark will find smaller targets than you want to find. It is a definite winner for me. Good luck

The coils are great, and warranted for life. They are UBER-thin and cut through the water like a hot knife through butter. :occasion14:

So the sand shark and tiger shark have interchangeable coils?
I thought they were hardwired now.

Correct, older models had connectors though, lot of guys used the 10.5 on ground units.

Sand Shark wasn't cheap for me, especially the 3 times I've had gold in my scoop!

Its one of the best. It's not some cheap piece trash, but a very honest machine.

That's why I can't find those 10.5 coils.... Lol

I was researching more, there was actually a land version of the coil. The Shark 10.5 coil was heavier being made for water though it would work fine.

The 12x10 replaced it but it isn't the same.

Maybe when Tesoro catches up, they can make that Mojave 7" coil in 10.5....

Thanks everyone for your input. My son and I are ordering a new Sand Shark together to share. We'll have to see how the sharing works out.

Sorry Tesoro fans, but between my son liking the looks of a Whites Surfmaster and our local dealer recommending it . A new Surfmaster will be here next week, I still want another Tesoro in the near future.
