Hello fellow TNeters,

I don't post very often but have been a member since 2004. I finally got out for the first time this year (yesterday) and found a nice Santa Fe Route baggage tag. I don't think it's very rare but I'm not finding much information about them online.

Any idea what years they were used and what it might be worth? I'm not looking to sell it but it would be interesting to know.

Quarter added for size comparison.

Thanks,
Jason

That is sure a beautiful tag. I found duplicate tag from the Rio Grande about 10 years ago. I put it on eBay and it brought 80 or 120 I can’t remember. Either way I wish I still had it. I am sure it depends on the current collectors and railroad items seem to be more popular. It is a really great find. Congratulations!! One tag stayed with the bag and one was given to the passenger to redeem. Railroad Baggage Tags - Railroadiana Online

Thank you all for comments and information, I was definitely thrilled to find this tag...it was kind of a slow day for detecting where I was and then this popped out.

Victor, CO...I miss going up there when I used to live in CoSprings. It's such a beautiful place with a lot of history!

Victor is a great place, l I feel fortunate to be raising my family here. Look me up if you’re ever in the area. They have fixed up the town quite a bit in the past few years. That tag you found sure is a beauty, make sure you hold onto it.
