Interesting side note:

When they expose this treasure hoard in the next episode I wonder if The Canadian government keeps it all or if it returned to the people/countries that the Knights Templar looted it from...

The only certainty is the Lagias will get none of it even if they find it....

Maybe the reason they have not found it was because scooby doo got there first..

It also helps that they were careful to stop the drill bit before it reached the 'chamber floor' where all the treasure is 'stored'. Actually the episode was vague on what happened after they broke through: did their test for natural gas find a flammable gas? was it air? Was it the same deadly gas that took the Restalls' lives? Did they try to go deeper afterward? As others note, this is likely the last mention of the side chamber, the air pocket, and the 12X12 chamber large enough to house the Chappell Vault.

Are you referring to the fictional “chappell vault” that was created to fleece investors out of more money?
No, the real Chappell Vault that keeps getting pushed out of the way just as the drill reaches it. It has been floating around down there, but I suppose if it reached the gas chamber (the void holding 'air'), it would no longer float and come to rest where it can be drilled again.

That was a fun fantasy statement based on the show.

This week, geophysicist Jeremy Church reanalyzed some old seismic data and identified a chamber big enough to hold the Chappell Vault, and a tunnel leading directly from that location to C1. When they drill, they hit a water gusher, fed by the gas pressure from the chamber.

They continue to dig in the swamp, looking for the Spanish galleon.

They find a big rock spike near the location where the Templar bag seal was found.
I think that's just an offset tunnel and chamber, not the Chappell Vault. All their seismic testing has turned up essentially nothing so far, so we'll see if it finally pans out.

I remember reading that the most plausible explanation for this was carbon monoxide poising from running there generator too close to the hole they were digging and the fumes going down the hole.

Because of the way the drill and the air in the hole were behaving, the team decided that they had either hit a dead-end tunnel or some kind of a chamber. Marty was delighted! He was thinking this could be a secret offset chamber that’s hiding the real treasure.

The location is interesting because the historical documents make no reference to any searcher work in this specific area. It’s all virgin territory, meaning this is very likely the work of folk depositing treasure.

you guys are harsh. Those bubbles from this week's episode could be from Godzilla. I'm glad it wasn't some poisonous gas.

You are right there is literally no evidence of a Vault.

Chappell (Oak Island Treasure Company)in the 1890s came up with a core sample that looked like a corner section of a box (or shaft support). There seemed to be a cavity also. Something like "cement" was also found.

The report of the gold link chain never surfaced until the 1930s when Chappells son was trying to raise money for his search. The original Chappell never told anyone at the time that gold links were found. No one else ever reported seeing gold links.

The company gave up any efforts to find this "vault" when the shafts they dug flooded and they ran out of money.

No one else has ever reported finding anything like this in the 100s of holes and shafts dug.

A reasonable assumption would be that the Oak Island treasure company drilled through the corner support of a shaft dug by the earlier 1850ish searches.

it was more like pyrite on that drill bit, which in an early episode of Oak Island, they stated pyrite could be found all over the island. Hence, the gold glitter in that one bore hole etc. Of course, if it glitters on camera and is golden it must be gold. I can understand that - the search must go one.

Seven have to die, somebody needs to take one for the team
Are you including "Credibility"? Because they killed that in season two.

Interesting to see now the desperation logic creeping in after the numerous caissons and boreholes has reconfirmed to them multiple times there is (and was) nothing is at the spot they were told is the exact location to find the treasure: "It's in an offset chamber".

Like they are saying they didn't find it as it's 'offset' in some entirely different position or location ( or island, or landmass or even hemisphere) than where it was said to be. But they don't know where and they have nothing to go on.

So much for the scientific search they say they are conducting, the proper word for it is 'guessing'.

(And please, before anyone starts spare the 'No one is sure anymore where the exact site of the Money Pit is' excuse because it's just disproved BS.)

They found this latest site by seismic data, so if it pans out to be anything, they at least proved science was useful. I've been underwhelmed by the results of their seismic mapping so far.

As for the offset chamber, if you were going to protect your treasure for a long time using flood tunnels, what better way to do it?

What distance and direction is the 'offset' ? Seeing as that has just been invented make a guess also.....

I have no idea what direction it would be in. Obviously it has to originate in the main shaft, i.e. Money Pit, below the sea level at the time it was created and run up towards the surface, in some direction and depth that haven't already been explored.

Since a "main shaft" never existed, it stands to reason that anything located is either a previous hoax searcher hole or naturally occurring water passage.

Very much like when the diver proved all the claims and hyperbole regarding 10-x were nothing but Dan Blankenship fiction.

This week they find eelgrass in the manmade pressurized side chamber - a part of the sophisticated automatic flood system, for sure.
