As we arrived we saw that The Potato Field was being prepared for drilling, so this will be the end of that option until after harvest.
So the race is on to complete the whole of the Sewage Site Field.
We are doing a wide area grid of 15 mins a length, & for the morning session we had nothing but buttons.
Thankfully, it all came good in the afternoon.
These 2 hammered takes us to exactly 1000 Record on Cru'dad GPSed database.:icon_thumright:

3 Medieval Lead Spindal Whorls
Tiny bit of a Medieval Lead Ampulla
Neolithic Flint Scraper
Circa 2500BC Early Bronze Age Barbed & Tanged Flint Arrow Head (My first of this type but very damaged:sadsmiley:)
1575 Lizzy 3 Pence
1/2 Reale of Ferdinand and Isabella, c.1469-1502

These F&I silvers are spread over europe.... Congrats on the arrowhead, still a great find. Not sure about the scraper, im leaning more towards sickle blade. Is there some sickle gloss visible on the blade side? A day well worth spent!

Yep. You guys across the pond dig up some incredible stuff. Its amazing to me that centuries old coins shine like the day they were made. Nice recovery. That's some cool colored flint rock also. Hope you find a whole one to post.

Not familiar with the term 'sickle gloss'?

Sickles are used for cutting plant material. The silica in the plants create a gloss on the working edge of the flint tool. Gary

Like Jim, I tend to gravitate to the miscellaneous finds that pop up in fields.
Coins and buttons have been lost since God was a boy :laughing7:

But to me, it's the misc finds that make a field's history interesting.

Congrats on the arrowhead and the silvers Cru, hope your Dad is doing well these days.
Dave
