This landing craft was washed ashore during the recent hurricane.

Liberal application of high explosives!

I'm not expert, but I would think digging a trench around it on the land side, and then a dredge barge to excavate under it from the water side until its floating again.

Hey Kevin, once you pull it into deep water, will it float or has the hull been breeched?

Pete, it tapped the seabed hard a couple of times when it got there in the hurricane. but the Naval Architect guy gave us the all clear and we put it in the water (22 ft deep) yesterday. Photos to follow, too dark when we got it in.

They even let me dive to shackle up the huge anchor they put down ( about time I got some fun out of this ....ha ha)

The foods great on the salvage vessel, that photo is not far off the truth....ha ha.

Had an easy day today wind blew too hard ( weather day, salvage wise) so I was diving all day marker balling the anchors so we can get em back when we move it tomorrow or Sunday.

the anchor is a great way to bring it along, tow the anchor out with another vessel, drop it, then use it to pull the vessel along..a Fred Devine trick.

Nothing beat the Salvage Chief! Check into some of the New Carissa salvage..
Before it broke..

after..not fun...

Using an anchor to get underway is called "kedging off". It is not a "Fred Devine trick". It is basic semanship. I am sure a veteran of the Royal Navy is familiar with the idea.

Whatever....it was a great way to pull things along with the Salvage Chief...I see a trick in dropping anchor out, then beaching yourself next to the wreck, and using the props to wash out a channel, then pulling yourself and the ship out...

I forgot about all of the know-it-alls here....

(btw...that would be seamanship)

The vessel is off and floating at anchor ready to take to the dock 3 quarters of a mile away. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452992466.561080.jpg
