I got a couple of chances to swing the ATPro in a local swimming area. Both hunts were for 3 hours before many people showed up to swim and use the beach. On the first trip I found 23 coins with a face value of $2.44, 3 pop tabs, some earrings, a ring, a lead wire, some sinkers and a few hair pins and a little foil.

The silver earring back has an SU makers mark and I also found 2 tiny earring fronts with the posts broken off.

The ring is black stainless that says I LOVE YOU inside. I found it on Amazon, $79.99 on sale for $6.99. Nothing says I love you like a $7 ring for your man LOL.

Next water hunt I found 26 coins with a face value of $1.95, some tabs as usual, a cheapy bracelet, a batch of earrings, a bead, some earring backs, more foil and a few hairpins.

One earring is 10k with 4 square czs, another is silver with fancy scrollwork and one earring back is silver as well. A couple of the other earrings look like silver, but are unmarked.

I made 2 more trips to the scout camp swingin the CZ21. Both hunts were for 6 hours. I spent most of the time in a campsite, but I also spent some time detecting in the lake bed in the boating area since the lake is down quite a bit.

On the first trip I found 120 coins with a face value of $12.85, 67 camp tent pegs, a rust old dagger, axe wedges, a fishing lure in good shape for a change, a clevis pin, sinkers, a pocket knife, a cross pendant, a neckerchief slide, 2 square brass nuts from the waterfront and a stainless spoon.

The cross pendant has a bible quote on the back (John 3:16) and crucified Jesus on the front.

I’m not sure about the brass nuts. Every time I detect around the waterfront in the boating area I find these. I guess long ago they were used on the wooden canoes or row boats. All the new stuff is aluminum with rivets.

The dagger is an interesting find. Fixed blade knives are not allowed anymore, but a lot of scouts used to carry them. The ones we carried when I was a scout were single edged not double edged like this dagger. Last week I found a guard that I thought belonged to a double edged, fixed blade knife and I was right. That one was a lot bigger than this one. I found an end cap that matches the one on this knife and proportionate in size to the larger guard. It’s in the junk bucket somewhere.

On the second trip I found 91 coins with a face value of $8.03, 73 camp tent pegs, lots of sinkers, a squashed penny that’s not readable, a slug, a foreign coin, a Sidling Hill hat pin, a cross, a neckerchief slide and 7 more square brass nuts.

The coin is a 1970 Netherlands 10 cent coin. The size made me think it was a half dime at first, but a closer look told me no such luck. The hat pin is from eastern Allegany County on route 68. Sideling Hill visitors center in Hancock, Maryland. The cross says JESUS CHRIST IS LORD on the front with the Braille version on the back. It is heavy like silver and black like silver that has been in the water a long time, but is is unmarked and it doesn’t quite look right. I’ll test it later.

So more silver and gold, the gas money is piling up and more social distancing exercise in the great outdoors. Thanks for looking, stay safe and may your coil lead you to good things.

Maryland state parks are restricted until after Labor Day as well. Luckily there a few non state parks I can detect now. After Labor Day there are 4 state parks I will be hitting hard. Good luck to you, stay safe and keep swingin.

Sorry to hear you can’t get out. Glad to be of service to a fellow educator. Stay safe and go swingin when you are able.
