Any idea of a mint date and description? It tests as silver.

Fairly certain you have a lead bale seal there. The inscriptions can denote the origin of the goods that are baled and may even provide taxation info depending on how old the seal is. Bale seals were used for many things such as tobacco, salt, or even cloth. Seals found in North America are usually commercial seals used for produced goods. More rare are the fiscal seals which were used for taxation purposes. Bale seals. I have found numerous seals which I find are fun to collect and research. They can be extremely tough to ID sometimes and are often illegible. Lots of times you will see indentations in the seal where wire entered/exited the seal or may even have bits of wire protruding from the lead. Nice find!
