Received this in an email today, thought I would share it with ya... :o
Snake killed on Golf Course in Harlan , Ky.

A little something for golfers to think about the next time you go after
a lost ball in the rough.

He should have been given at least four strokes off his game!!
But, knowing golfers they probably wanted to give him a stoke for each
time he hit the snake. Should have bought some new clothes ! ! ! !

How's this for a 'hazard' on the course?

This is the golf course off 119 near Harlan at the Country Club

This is a timber rattler killed last week-end. It is by far The biggest
rattle snake I have ever seen. Although diamond back Rattlers get this
big and maybe even bigger, I did not know Those timber rattlers reached
that size. I have not talked to Ollie About how many rattles it had or
it's actual size and length was, But since he is about 5'9' the snake
appears to be at least 8 feet Long if not longer, and is bigger around
than his arms. He killed the snake on number 8 at Oakview while looking
for his Ball. He killed the snake with a 2 iron. The man holding the
snake is greens keeper.

A snake can strike about half it's body length. Killing it with a 2 iron was a risky. Aren't most golf clubs shorter than 4 feet?

Dang big snake however I don't think it is an 8 footer. The longest on record, that I could find, is just over 74 inches. Looks like the greens keeper is holding it pretty far away from his body giving it a much larger appearance. None the less it still is one large serpent. Get it measured, you may have a record there. Let us know

Being that the source is by email, I would poo-poo this as an optical illusion with Photo-Shop assistance.

This, and similar examples, have been posted on TN in the past, which were created simply as Photo-Shop creations.

PS Way to go Cubfan64

What you want to bet that a lot of people will make comments and not read that this is a hoax?

Man that is a very nice Timber rattler.I used to kill alot of these where i was raised up in central Kentucky.
just a couple of weeks ago,i was bow hunting in a knob area and stepped on something in a rotten log.it also was a timber rattler with 5 rattlers,I left it alone and went about my way.
I would watch for another as they are getting ready to find a hibernation area.

snopes said that where they found it was a hoax...it wasn't thier golf course.....however if you look closely at the stick it is rather long thus giving the appearance of being larger than it really was....did the same with a 3" minnow and held it at arms length to the camera and got a picture of me holding a 3' fish

True, but it's still big enough for me!
