My grandfather was the same way. We gave him lots of the cheap digital watches. Twenty minutes was the longest any lasted.

In those days you always grabbed a few salt-tabs walking out the door. Always wondered if all the salt caused him to be more conductive.

Cast iron cookware can put a high amount of iron in your blood. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Micro holes in your skin can allow electricity in. Every time you get a static spark, it puts a micro hole in you. That's what I suspect.
