Several months ago, as I swept around my acreage on our family farm, I happened across this old axe head. It was basically a semi-flat chunk of rust.

It just came to me that combining two compatible hobbies canā€™t be a bad thing. I found it while metal detecting, but I also restore old axes and hammers, so I brought this little beast back to life.

My pics arenā€™t the best, but I do now have an heirloom that I can appreciate. BD4A3378-726F-499F-892E-E427346580F8.jpeg BC53159B-E11D-4FBB-823D-66130A2E8EAB.jpeg 8C605683-CF73-456A-B04C-EF056055A560.jpeg

Did you coat it afterwards? Has a bronze look to me in the photos so popped my curiosity.
I have a couple of found swing blades and axes that I would like to restore at some point.
Thanks for sharing with us šŸ¤˜

I like the rough finish that you left on it. Most of the tool-restoring video's that you see put a mirror finish on the tool, which is nice but it's more suited to hanging on the wall.
