Found on private property with permission. It was a surface find.

1/8 round profile iron frame, iron pin at 1 3/4" and 5" are through pins and peened flush 3/16 diameter IMG_3.jpg IMG_2.jpg

It appears to be the reinforcing iron off the end of a wooden hame (part of a draft horse harness). If you do an image search for "hames" you will find other examples.
Looks like we have a winner. The ornate U pins would have had leather or maybe canvas buckles.

Edit: Guess I'll spend some more time hunting that property.

BAW called it, the 8 1/2" end on the picture is the tip or upper portion of a wooden hame. The break in the iron is at the tip of the tape measure which has a larger hole (not in the photo) would have had a large iron eyebolt.

I forgot to thank you BAW for the identification. Thank you , I was researching wagon/coach parts.

I literally was putting the cart before the horse.
