Detected my cornfield permission today. The good hits have slowed, but I was “real” happy to dig this Spanish silver, an 1803 1/2 real minted in Mexico City. It gave off a surprisingly loud tone on the AT Pro, especially for such a small coin. Also found what looks like a cut coin, but I can only make out a letter B, as shown in the top center of the photo. The key looks odd to me, and I have no idea of its purpose. Thanks for checking out my post. Good luck out there!

Beautiful find with the 1803 Half Real, nice to hear the fields are still frost-free in your area. :hello2:

How come I only find plow parts and broken horse shoes in the corn fields I hunt. :laughing7:

Thanks, Dave! The fields are still good, but the days too short. I find plenty of scrap in the fields also. This particular field is probably about 20 acres, most of which is non-productive, but there is this one spot with broken brick and lots of grunting iron that has produced a few coins and buttons for me. I know you saw my 2-real, but you might’ve missed this 18th century cufflink I posted from this same field. Look forward to seeing another post from you, as you always have nice finds. And I know I sound like a broken record, but your preservation skills are amazing. Good luck out there. Hope your ground thaws. Steve

Thanks for your reply Steve.
That cuff-link is a beauty, you're so fortunate to have a field that continues to produce after each crop rotation. Thank you for the compliment as well, I only wish I'd been out more lately, I think the last time was at the beginning of November.

Oh well, there's always next year... best of luck to you before the snow arrives!
Dave
