It looks like a type of shist (sp?) They would not use that for a tool because it has soft layers. Keep looking your state is rich with artifacts.Welcome back.

A side view would help, but if that is a piece of a Blade it's the worst material I've ever seen a Pennsylvania artifact made from.

yeah I would think prehistoric if it was indeed ever used as part of a weapon. I'll try to get side pics in daylight.

yes I guess it could be a natural rock. It has almost a perfect point and glints with quartz. There is quartz all over this area and this used to be a farmers plow field.
This led me to think that it might be Lanceolate - see photo.
Flint, obsidian, quartz and many other rocks and minerals were commonly used to make points in North America.

If you were a hunter and soldier, would you spend hours of your time constructing a weapon from that material, or is there a more suitable materials located within a days hike from your area?

I think I'd be looking for suitable materials that were hard and razor sharp.

It does sort of resemble a Clovis type Point. But the material is the big give away that it's natural. Though I've seen and actually own some very rough pieces from the northeastern states Schist is not one of them. It will be really difficult to get a good, sharp and sustainable edge on a material as grainy as Schist. It erodes and crumbles very easily. Argilite is one of the crudest materials I believe I've seen from that area but even it sustains a nice sharp edge and shows obvious flaking.
