Started Life as a Coin?

New to the forum, here's what I think maybe a coin fashioned into jewelry. On my White's Di Pro 5900 reading is "penny", so we know it's copper. Like to hear if anyone has found a similar object with this type of off-center punched hole?

why do you think it started as a coin?
Any markings on the surface?
need to see both sides and the size.
Thinking a weight of some sort

The hole has a weird taper to it like it was inlarged with a knife or something

looks like I can make out a line and maybe some letters or numbers at a 45 degree angle at the 8 o'clock position in the pic. I'm thinking it is probably a King George copper. can you post a pic of the other side?
