I would get the timeranger out of the ones listed. Go to youtube and listen to the sound the garretts make and ask yourself if you could listen to that over and over. Warranty is better on the Bounty hunters also.

I'd probably do the Ace 250 if it were me. Good luck!

I would do the ace also. But I like the idea of checking out youtube videos and comparison shop.

check craigslist , you can usually pick up one of those bounty hunters for under a $100..

Get a Tesoro Compadre!!! 2.2 pounds , One knob with excellent discrimination, $160 brand new, and LIFETIME WARRANTY. Nobody else has a lifetime warranty. You can't beat the Compadre!

Amazon Prime gets you free two day shipping.

If it has to be one of those, The QDII with a pinpointer starts most off well for the price,

Since you have the obnoxious sounding Ace 250 in the mix, consider the Fisher F2 available to Prime Members as well, For $215, you get 2 coils and a (must needed) pinpointer, as well as smoother tones plus a numeric readout to ID better. None of the others offer numeric ID which is a must for most using full screen info.

EDIT: The Time Ranger does offer numeric ID. Old school, but effective.

Echoing this. Work in a Pinpointer with the cost. Also, BH customer service has been excellent when I've used them.

I just ordered the Timeranger. It will live in my truck as a handy park detector. I bought a Tesoro Compadre for that task, but if you keep the discriminator low enough to get nickles, the park pull tabs will keep your ears busy. Then comes knob twisting to try to figure it all out. Maybe tomorrow I will put the Compadre on Ebay for around $100.
