Some lucky prospector in Arizona apparently stumbled across a cache of gold and silver coins, greenbacks, and firearms. If I had to guess I would say it's a Knights of the Golden Circle cache as it fits the timeframe and contents typical for their organization. Could also be James Gang loot or from some other outlaw gang. Whoever stashed it, they never came back for it.

If real, that $500 bill is a Legal Tender Note from the Series of 1874 to 1880. More importantly, of the 14 different variations of these bills, ALL are considered either extremely rare (up to six are known within each variant) down to UNKNOWN in any collection.
The pretty face is that of Major General Mansfield.

Is it me or does the derringer look like a Colt .22 Short Model 4 derringer starting production in 1959? I suppose it could be an original .41, looks like .41 bullets there, but the bullets could just be staged like props. Would need to see the barrel. It caught my eye because i own one.

Well that book advertisement is about “Unfound Treasure” according to the description. Go figure. That website also doesn’t have that second photo of the strong box under the ledge. Wondering if the OP ran across a story elsewhere?
Saw it on social media, should have known it was fake just from that alone, but I had hope.
