Yes it is dry in California. My boys and I went deer scouting in zone X4, near Eagle Lake two weekends ago. We saw some fine bucks like the ones in your photos, but it was hot and dry. Neat country.

The photo is where I have cows now, I see a group of bucks every evening when I fill the water troughs.

Nice. They tend to feed heavy while the antlers are in velvet and more out in the open than when the antlers harden and fall approches.

Those bachelor clubs are cool to see in late summer. Come hunting season, you wonder where they all went.
